I’ve worked as a PR counselor for nearly four decades and have maintained my own practice, COMMposition, since January 2007. I am the Idaho member of Unified Strategies Public Relations — a collaborative of senior-level PR pros who collectively cover all of the nation’s major media markets.

I previously worked as a senior copywriter and PR manager for boutique marcom agency PBZ preceded by a stint as retail PR manager at micronpc.com and as PR director and PR manager at several Idaho ad agencies. I began my career in New York City at Burson-Marsteller, one of the world’s leading PR agencies, before joining Nelson Communications Group, one of the nation’s leading independent public affairs firms and the Phoenix affiliate of PR industry giant Hill & Knowlton.

My current client roster includes Ski Idaho, Idaho STEM Action Center, the Idaho Sled Dog Challenge, Soldier Mountain, Visit Southern Idaho, St. Luke’s Health System (media monitoring only), the McCall Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, and AirFlare. Other clients I’ve worked with include Ada County Highway District, Anheuser-Busch, Catholic Health Initiatives, First Interstate Bank, Genentech, HP, Idaho Commission for Libraries, Idaho Dept. of Health & Welfare, Idaho Power, The NutraSweet Co., Ore-Idaho Foods, J.R. Simplot Co., RedBuilt (and predecessors Trus Joist Corp. and Trus Joist MacMillan), Dairy West (formerly United Dairymen of Idaho), the University of Idaho (my alma mater), Valley Metro (the regional public transit authority for the metro-Phoenix area), and ValleyRide (the RPTA for Southern Idaho).

My work has earned numerous honors, chief among them two PRSA Bronze Anvils – the highest award PR tools like news releases and speeches can earn – for traditional and CD-ROM-based press kits. I’ve also picked up a Regional Creativity in Public Relations Award from Inside PR magazine and two Gold Rockies from the Idaho Advertising Federation, plus I was named Outstanding Professional Advisor from Public Relations Student Society of America’s Midwest District.
